Crafts: The imaginary world of… #2
I wrote an article about it over a year ago the book “The imaginary world of…” by Keri Smith. To be honest, I didn't do much with the book after that. The book contains creative assignments with which you can shape your own world. I recently found the book again and made a few more pages. Because I remain a fan of the book :-). Today I'll show you the progress I made with my own world.
Now you may be thinking, what do creative assignments entail? Actually, this book is more of an activity book. Every two pages contains some kind of assignment/issue, for example “make portraits of important residents” or “Create your own house”. You can then complete these assignments as you wish. You can think of writing, drawing, painting, cutting and pasting and so on. I like to draw and paste. I don't enjoy writing as much, so I often don't choose to do that.
Let me start with the map. At the beginning of the book you will find an empty map of your world. This fills up more and more as you do various creative assignments. This was my map last year:
In recent weeks I have completed 5 new assignments from the book. Now the map looks like this.
Various assignments completed
Create a special place for yourself
A special place for yourself, who wouldn't want that? In my own made world I have my own secret cave in a rock. From that rock opening I look out over my own private beach and house :-).
To create this I cut out a beach from a magazine, then drew the rock with colored pencils.
Here is a shop
The intention of this assignment was for you to think about a store in your own world. What does this store sell, what kind of owner does the store have, and so on. I thought I would sell sleeping powder in this special world. I think it would be wonderful to be able to sleep straight away if you want.
I made the powder with glitter slime and drew the stall again.
Add undiscovered area
There is only room for positivity in my world. I didn't have to think long about what was then an undiscovered area in my world: “The area of nonsense thoughts”. Nice and far away from everything, as you can see on the map ;-).
Dedicate part of your world to a hobby
Of course there is a lot of beauty to be found in my world. And because I love photography, there is a special area with beautiful flora and fauna. Which I visit together with my dog and camera :-).
Capture plant life
I now have a love-hate relationship with plants in the real world. Unfortunately, they sometimes die. In my own world I have plants 2.0. These do not die, indicate when they need water and always bloom :-).
I drew my own plants and then outlined them with fineliner.
Do you ever think about your dream world?
