Diamond painting #2: large Minion 25×25 cm AliExpress
Today another article about Diamond painting. In my first article I made one small Minion from AliExpress (20×20 cm). Because I enjoyed making this so much, I ordered a larger Minion from Uncle Ali (25×25 cm). Today my new experiences, tips and of course I will show you the end result :-).
Diamond Painting Aliexpress
I ordered another complete package on AliExpress. This time a larger size was even cheaper than my first minion from Diamond Painting. I also chose a minion with more color in the background. My first diamond painting mainly consisted of a white background and I found it a bit boring when sticking the stones.
I paid €2.84 for this package. It contains a surface of 25 x 25 cm, the stones (diamonds) are packed in small plastic bags, a tray, a pen, tweezers and wax (this keeps the stones attached to the pen). I have placed the stones by number in a pill box from Action. This works better than constantly torn open bags.
Getting started with Diamond Painting
When I start diamond painting I always look at one side to start. I always like to work in rows. I finish these first before starting new rows. You stick the stones on an adhesive layer and you do not want to keep sticking to the adhesive layer yourself or even worse that the layer no longer sticks properly. That's why I leave the protective layer on rows that I'm not working on. In the photo you can see that I have already finished a few rows.
I really like the color nuances in the blue. Unfortunately there are 2 different numbers in white, but if you stuck them next to each other you really couldn't see the difference. In the photo the blue colors, but also the eye with two different colors of white. Unfortunately you don't see that. In an earlier one diamond painting from the Action that I made, the diversity in colors was unfortunately a bit disappointing. But in this minion they are, apart from white, very beautiful :-).
I have already made some progress with this photo :-). It didn't make much progress because I was busy. So diamond painting has been on hold for a while.
Once I got the hang of it again, it actually went quite quickly. I did this in half a day :-). Now I'm already half way through.
A weekend later I finished the minion in 2 days. On Saturday I chose to do one block instead of rows. This contained the last bits of yellow. This way I didn't have to change colors as often.
I did the last part on Sunday :-). And then the minion was finally finished! Because this minion was larger than the first one, I like it in terms of detail and colors. I'm also still happy that I ordered a minion with a colored background instead of just white.
In this photo you can see the difference between the 20x20cm minion and the 25x25cm minion. This one is a lot bigger than I thought.
Are you already diamond painting?
