DIY #42: Easily make your own stickers with the Action
When crafting in my agenda and bullet journal, I like to use stickers with a watercolor or paint background. I often buy these paper blocks and stickers. But making it yourself is of course more fun. In this article I show you different ways to easily and cheaply make your own stickers with craft supplies from Action.
I bought the following items at Action:
Mother of pearl watercolor, € 1.46
Acrylic spray set, €1.74
Blank stickers, 2 versions small and large rectangles, € 0.29 each, round 4 cm, € 0.79
I also used a plate, glass for water and a brush. I used colored pencils, stamps, stamp ink and various gel pens to decorate the stickers, but this is at your own discretion.
Make stickers with Action Mother of Pearl watercolor
First I did a color test on plain watercolor paper. This way I could clearly see which colors are beautiful and go well together. All colors have a nice pigment. Only the white color is of course not very visible on white ;-).
After drying, I noticed that the stickers that were not completely painted were coming loose from the sticker sheet. This is of course because the paper expands or shrinks slightly due to the water, while dry pieces of sticker do not. The stickers still stuck fine to me afterwards (although I would use them quickly, the adhesive layer will of course diminish). However, I was not very happy with this, because storing the stickers is difficult.
Luckily I still had a chance with the blank round stickers. These sheets are completely covered with sticker paper with the stickers cut out. Fortunately this went well.
Action spray paint
I also thought it would be really fun to make stickers with the acrylic spray paint. Super easy too, spray and done! I placed the sheets of blank round stickers on a surface that can get dirty. I prefer to spray this spray outside. Our grass now has 6 colors ;-). I pressed the nozzle a few times, picked up a different color and repeated as desired. Let dry and you're done!
You can of course use the stickers as is, but you can also decorate them further.
General stickers with quote
General stickers always come in handy. I made 8 different stickers with a quote. I can use these stickers later when making cards or in my bullet journal.
I used a black and white gel pen. Not all stickers turned out equally well. Normally I first make a sketch with pencil, but you can't erase well on paint. So I did everything by hand.
Stickers with hedgehogs come in handy around this time. The stamps of the hedgehogs come from AliExpress. I used Memento waterproof stamp ink. I like working with this. Finally, I colored the stickers with pencil.
Because I like to work ahead with themes for my bullet journal, I already made winter stickers. Then I already have some loose parts when January comes… if I still think the stickers fit the theme. I like to change the theme at the last minute. But then I can probably use the stickers for something else :-).
