Jewelry making #1: Jewelry making workshop
I had never really made jewelry before. It just seemed difficult to me. When I was given the opportunity to attend a small workshop at work, I grabbed the opportunity with both hands. And ooooh…. what fun it was!
Jewelry making workshop
When I entered I saw a nice bag at every workplace. It already contained some supplies such as various charms, clasps and chains. Furthermore, there were all kinds of containers on a table with different beads that you could use as desired. After a brief explanation and some basic things, everyone could get started.
Because I don't wear necklaces that often, I chose to make bracelet sets. The first set I made was with all kinds of charms that have to do with the sea. I also chose coral, white, gray and silver seed beads in 2 mm and 4 mm. I made the third bracelet with colored elastic and a few silver round beads.
The second set of bracelets is nice and sweet. The ice cream was the basis for the color choice: pink, old pink, silver, light blue and coral. For all three bracelets I worked with transparent elastic on which I threaded the seed beads. The third bracelet also contains mini tassels.
And then unfortunately the workshop was over. The time really flew by and I wanted to make so much more. I was also really happy with the first result.
Making jewelry at home
Maybe you guessed it, because I enjoyed it so much I also continued at home. In the attic I still had a box with various jewelry items (bought when I was very young, but hardly done anything with it) and I also still had the pliers that you need at home. At my favorite store... of course Action, I bought two boxes of various colored beads (€ 3.53). And I could get started.
First I made a real summery set with bright colors. The bright colors appear in a shirt that I like to wear and with which I can wear these bracelets. I chose colored (yellow and bright pink) and transparent elastic as a base. All colored beads come from the Action boxes. The mini tassels match the beads. I like to match ;-). The charms are a turtle and a parrot. I thought it matched the colors and theme well.
In the beginning I had some difficulty making the buttons for the closure of the colored elastic. Unfortunately, the pink elastic is not in the middle and the bracelet only just fits! But just is good enough ;-).
For my second set of bracelets I based the color on a shirt again. If I keep this up I will soon have a set of bracelets for every shirt ;-). For these bracelets I chose mint and white beads. I really liked the elephant charm, and I also used flowers. This set is nice and basic.
