I have loved making cards since I was young. Besides the fact that making a card is a lot of fun, a homemade card is extra personal. Making cards is a fun hobby.
What do you need to make cards?
What you need when making cards depends on what type of card you want to make. Don't have anything at home yet to make cards? Then I would start with a visit to the Action to buy standard craft supplies, such as scissors, box cutter, cutting mat, Pritt, double-sided tape, colored paper, blank cards and so on. Once you know what type of card you want to make, you can start shopping specifically for that.
Different types of homemade cards
There are many different types and sizes of homemade cards. Therefore, as a beginner in the world of card making, you may not know where to start due to the different types. So you have 3D maps, shake cards, fold-out maps, extendable cards And so I can go on and on.
And then there are also theme cards such as Christmas cards & cards for Saint Nicholas.
Extensive explanation of how to make cards and free printables
I already have many types of cards on my blog with a detailed explanation. Take a look in the category: Making cards. There you can probably find a card that appeals to you and that you want to make. You will also find one on many cards free printable from the base of the map so that you don't have to calculate and draw anything yourself.
Create images for cards
Once you've chosen a type of card to make, it's time to find images that match your card. There are several different images with which you can decorate your card. I have listed a few of them below.
The easiest and often simply a beautiful solution are ready-made images. These are often for sale at Action in different paper blocks. There is also a wide range at various hobby shops. Sometimes you have to cut out the images, but often you can just press them out of the paper. So handy!
Because I like to work with my own images, I drew my own images. I share this for free on my blog. I color all images with alcohol markers, but you can also use colored pencils or other markers.

Create images with stamps
You can also buy stamps in various stores. I'm a fan of stamps, especially clear stamps. These stamps are transparent and can be stamped very accurately. I print the stamps with waterproof ink (Brand Memento) on thicker paper (200 grams) and color them with alcohol markers. But here too, you can color stamps with whatever you want.
Cutting dies can be used in combination with a cutting and embossing machine. I have the Love2Craft. This one is also from Action. I like working with cutting dies. You can often make different images with a set of cutting dies.
Make labels cards
There is often a wish and/or message on a card. Personally, I find a message in Dutch most striking. Unfortunately, many labels are in English. To solve this I also made labels. You can also download these labels for free from my blog.
