Review: HEMA Wax sheets for candles
Today a review of a product that made me very curious when I saw it, the HEMA Wax sheets for Candles. Or simply wax sheets for candles in Dutch. Curious about what you can do with it and how it works? In this article I share my experience with this new craft product from HEMA.
HEMA Wax sheets for candles
The HEMA Wax sheets cost €7 per box. For this you need 5 wax sheets (approximately A5) in different colors. You have 2 different boxes, one with fresh colors (yellow, green, pink, blue and black) and a box with metallic colors. I chose the metallic colors because I have a lot of bronze, copper, white and black in my house in the winter. This box contains a silver, gold, copper, black and blue wax sheet. I also bought 2 large and 3 small candles at HEMA to stick the wax sheets on. It will probably also work fine with other candles from other stores. Maybe you still have a few boring candles?
The purpose of the wax sheets is that you cut out shapes and/or letters and stick them on a candle. You can give boring candles a completely different look with this set of wax sheets!
First I took shapes out of the wax sheets. I did this by pressing baking molds into the wax sheets. This worked very well and created sleek shapes. You can of course also cut or cut something from the wax sheets yourself.
After pressing the shapes out of the wax sheets, you can stick them on the candle. In the beginning I still had very cold hands and I could not stick the shapes to the candle properly. To make the mold stick, I took a hairdryer and held it on a soft setting on the wax molds. This caused them to “melt” a bit. You can then easily press them onto the candle.
And so they are now in our house :-). I haven't lit the candles myself yet, I thought that would be a shame (maybe after Christmas). So I don't know what happens when you burn out the candles. The instructions state that the wax sheets burn away nicely.
- Time: Depends on the number of candles
- Difficulty: Easy
- Final grade: 9
I really enjoyed doing it. The product does what it promises and it works very well. I would definitely recommend buying these wax sheets :-). I will definitely use the remaining wax sheets!
